Looking For Hope
The Regalado kids are some of the smartest kids at Green Garden Christian School. Their faithful single mom takes them to church regularly every Sunday. I do not know the story about their dad or why he left them, but seeing these smart kids together with their mom touches my heart. The mother is very grateful that her kids are studying at a Christian school while she is away working and trying to make ends meet. Tree Of Life has made that possible through the generous help of its supporters.

Teaching more than the Three R’s
After months of preparation, recruiting, and orientation, Arapal TOL program is about to start with 30 kids sponsored by the TOL FUND. This weekend Linda Henry will help distribute back packs and get a first hand visit with the kids there. The list of TOL kids sponsored may go up to 50 or more. This will more than double the number of kids attending school in that poverty stricken hill community.

The TOL Fund will provide their minimal tuition, school fees, school supplies, two sets of uniform, shoes, bag, etc. On weekends, the kids will be given a meal or two and a snack in between. A small allowance of $1.50 a week will be given to them in exchange for doing camp chores. They will use their allowance as their pocket money for the week. The “job” is our way to encourage the parents to let their kids spend a day with us on Saturdays. Sunday is optional, but they will most likely come for the morning activities (worship and tutoring). Some of the parents are already attending our house church there.

Partners for Christian Education and Green Garden Christian School will provide weekend teachers to teach Bible lessons and tutor the kids with their school work. We hope this plan will help change the course and culture of this small community in a few years time.
